Huila sees drop in EPS service and job satisfaction per Dane

Huila ranks among departments with lowest satisfaction in EPS service quality in 2025, dropping 6.5 percentage points. Dane's National Quality of Life Survey also shows lower job satisfaction in the region compared to the national average.

The National Quality of Life Survey 2025 by the National Administrative Department of Statistics (Dane) shows that Huilenses' perception of Entidades Promotoras de Salud (EPS) service quality worsened in 2025. The department scored 75.3% favorable, below the national average of 81.9% and down 6.5 points from 81.8% in 2024.

Huila ranks among the 11 worst departments, alongside Nariño (60%), Vichada (61.7%), and others like Cauca and Chocó. In contrast, La Guajira (95.7%), Amazonas (92.4%), and Atlántico (90.5%) exceeded 90%. The national average fell 2.8 points from 84.7% in 2024, the lowest in recent years.

Cristóbal Castro, president of the Red de Veeduría Departamental en Salud, stated that “the reality is another”, pointing to dissatisfaction over delays in appointments, medications, and access to specialized services. “Service provision since 2024 has been decaying resoundingly. (…) There are barriers that have not yet been resolved”.

In affiliation, 73.3% of Huilenses are in the subsidized regime and 26.5% in contributory, similar to 2024. Job satisfaction in Huila averages 7.4 for those 15 and older, below the national average, with San Andrés leading at 8.3.
