Kenyan suspect faces extradition over UK murder case

A Kenyan national appeared in court as the Director of Public Prosecutions moved to extradite him to the United Kingdom over the 2025 death of his girlfriend in London.

The Director of Public Prosecutions informed the Milimani Law Courts on Friday that the United Kingdom had requested the suspect’s extradition under existing legal cooperation agreements. Deputy Registrar Bosibori Nyangema endorsed two arrest warrants issued by Westminster Court, clearing the way for proceedings under Kenyan law.

The case concerns the death of banker Marianne Kilonzi, who was found with a severe head injury in her South London apartment in January 2025. UK authorities have charged the suspect with murder, manslaughter, perverting the course of justice and fraud by false representation.

Police records show the suspect left Britain shortly after the incident and travelled through France, Uganda and Kenya. He was arrested at the Namanga border on 10 June while attempting to enter Tanzania and has been held at the Anti-Terrorism Police Unit.

The court refused bail, citing flight risk, and set the next mention for Monday, 29 June.
