Huduma ya Misitu ya Kenya (KFS) imekataa madai ya unyanyasaji wa kigeni na walinzi wake katika Kaunti ya Bungoma, ikisema hakuna visa vilivyorekodiwa. Ripoti iliyotolewa na Citizen Digital ilidai walinzi walikuwa wakomboa wakazi ili kuwapa ruhusa ya kukusanya kuni. KFS inasema madai hayana maelezo maalum na inaahidi kushirikiana na mamlaka za utume.

Huduma ya Misitu ya Kenya (KFS) imetoa taarifa rasmi Jumapili, 10 Februari 2026, ikikataa madai ya unyanyasaji wa kigeni na walinzi wake katika mfumo wa misitu ya Mlima Elgon, Bungoma. Ripoti ya Citizen Digital ilidai walinzi walikuwa wakomboa wanawake na wasichana wenye hitaji la kuni, ikitaja hofu ya kulipizwa na shinikizo la kitamaduni kama sababu kuu. KFS ilisema hakuna visa lolote lililoripotiwa kwa huduma yake, Jeshi la Polisi la Taifa au mamlaka nyingine nyingine za utume katika Kaunti ya Bungoma.

"Huduma pia inazingatia kwa wasiwasi kuwa madai hayana maelezo maalum kama tovuti maalum, stesheni, tarehe au hata utambulisho wa wahalifu wanaodaiwa," ilisema taarifa ya KFS. Ilitaja Shule ya Chepkurkur ya Msingi, ambayo iko takriban kilomita 12 kutoka mpaka wa msitu, na kusema ni vigumu wasichana wa shule ya msingi wafike huko kukusanya kuni. Aidha, uchunguzi wa 2023/2024 na mashirika ya serikali ulichunguza mimba za mapema shuleni lakini haukuhusisha ukusanyaji wa kuni katika misitu iliyotangazwa.

Kuhusu shughuli za Sabaot Land Defence Forces (SLDF) 2006-2008, ambapo kulikuwa na unyanyasaji wa kigeni, hakuna kesi yoyote iliyohusisha maafisa wa misitu. KFS ilisema maafisa wake hupata mafunzo ya ufundishaji, maadili na haki za binadamu. "KFS haifanyi au kuhimiza aina yoyote ya unyanyasaji wa kigeni na kila kesi iliyoripotiwa itachunguzwa," ilihakikishia. Inahimiza wahasiriwa kuripoti na inaahidi kushirikiana na mamlaka.
