Parliament to summon Agrinas over 105,000 Indian pickup imports

Indonesia's House Commission VI plans to summon PT Agrinas Pangan Nusantara for clarification on procuring 105,000 pickup trucks from India worth Rp24.66 trillion for Koperasi Desa Merah Putih operations. The summons is set after the recess ends on March 9, 2026.

Jakarta – Member of House Commission VI, Herman Khaeron, stated that the commission will summon PT Agrinas Pangan Nusantara after the parliamentary recess ends on March 9, 2026. The summons aims to seek explanations regarding the plan to import 105,000 Indian-origin pickup trucks to support Koperasi Desa Merah Putih operations.

"If it has become a public issue, Commission VI is obliged to summon them and request information, ask for explanations on what happened," Herman told reporters at the Parliament Complex in Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Friday, February 27, 2026.

According to Herman, in a previous working meeting (raker) with Agrinas, no budget was mentioned for importing vehicles. Agrinas only presented allocations of Rp3 billion per village, with Rp1.6 billion for building construction, Rp500 million for working capital, and the remainder for facilities including transportation. However, no details were provided on the type or specifications of the transportation.

Parliament was surprised by the news of the import, which totals Rp24.66 trillion. Herman emphasized that such a large budget should first be discussed with Commission VI to ensure transparency and state financial accountability.

"This is a very large budget, it should be discussed first in Parliament and to fulfill the principles of transparency and state financial accountability, it should also be open to the public," he added.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Defense denied involvement in the 105,000 Indian pickup imports, stating only a grant for Mahindra Scorpio pickups.
