Car maker Porsche and the works council agreed on a future package on Monday. It includes the cut of another 5000 jobs in Germany.
After a works meeting at the main plant in Stuttgart, Porsche and the works council announced that around 5000 further positions will be cut in a socially acceptable manner. Together with the previously decided job cuts, about 8900 employees must leave the company.
Site security is extended until the end of 2035. Porsche also plans investments of 2.1 billion euros in the Zuffenhausen site and the development center in Weissach.
CEO Michael Leiters said: „Das Zukunftspaket ist gut für Porsche.“ It provides the opportunity to strategically realign the company. The Porsche and Piëch families support the compromise.
The Leipzig site is not included in the agreement. To what extent the rules apply there remains open.
