Region Dalarna launches plan against high sick leave

Region Dalarna has the highest sick leave in Sweden. The political majority and trade unions have therefore developed a joint action plan for a better work environment.

Region Dalarna has the country's highest sick leave rate at 7.5 percent. The goal is to lower the level to just over 6.2 percent by 2029.

The plan includes mandatory training for managers on work environment issues. The region is also allocating ten million kronor to occupational health services and five million kronor to a trivselpeng that operations can apply for.

– If we do not focus on the work environment, the region will not be an attractive employer, says Marion Vaeggemose, chair of Vårdförbundet in Dalarna.

The action plan was developed by Samling för Dalarna together with the trade unions Kommunal, Vårdförbundet, Läkarförbundet and Vision.
