South Sumatra Police launched intensive operations against cross-regional drug trafficking over the past week. The Narcotics Directorate and regional units uncovered 116 police reports, arresting 163 suspects in total.

Seized items included 7,236.9 grams of methamphetamine, 1,727.42 grams of marijuana, 879 ecstasy pills, and 20 units of etomidate. Narcotics Director Kombes Pol Yulian Perdana stated, “More than seven kilograms of meth seized in a short time shows drug networks remain highly active. The etomidate find signals evolving tactics, so we must stay adaptive and vigilant.”

The largest bust occurred in Ogan Ilir, with over four kilograms of meth seized. The directorate recorded 17 reports, 30 suspects, nearly three kilograms of meth, and hundreds of ecstasy pills.

Public Relations Head Kombes Pol Nandang Mu’min Wijaya highlighted police commitment. “This is not just case revelations but the state's real presence protecting society from drug threats. We urge all community elements to synergize by providing information, as the war on drugs is a shared responsibility,” he said on Sunday, April 19, 2026.

Police estimate thousands were saved from potential drug abuse due to the seizures and pledge to intensify surveillance on main distribution routes.
