One day after Major Update #1 and a wave of review bombing, Mega Crit released a 'Neowsletter' outlining the roadmap for Slay the Spire 2, one month into early access. It shares player statistics, development insights, upcoming features, and reaffirms the small-team approach without strict deadlines.
Following the April 17 Major Update #1—which brought beta changes to the main branch amid review controversy—Mega Crit marked Slay the Spire 2's first month in early access with a 'Neowsletter' detailing progress toward version 1.0. Priorities include fixing major issues, enhancing feedback systems, polishing visuals, and balancing cards and items. Co-founder Casey Yano described the studio's iterative style: 'It's not the most organised method, but this allows spontaneous experimentation like the dialogues you have with the Ancients or the existence of a Room Full of Cheese.' He emphasized avoiding expansion: 'We won’t massively expand the size of the studio to finish the game faster. Exacting deadlines produce sloppy uninspired work, and I don't want Sloppy Spire 2, I want Slay the Spire 2.'
