A 10-year-old boy has been charged with first-degree murder after fatally shooting a 7-month-old baby in St. Louis. The infant's father faces multiple charges related to the incident.
Police responded to a home in the 8400 block of N. Broadway just after 4 p.m. on Friday. They found baby Kiyomi Parker with a gunshot wound to the head and rushed her to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
The boy retrieved a gun that Ca'Marion Pawnell, 19, had stored under a mattress. Pawnell admitted ownership of the firearm during an interview with detectives. A 7-year-old child was also present in the home at the time.
Pawnell was charged with second-degree murder, first-degree child endangerment resulting in death and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child. The 10-year-old faces a first-degree murder charge in juvenile court and was taken into custody. His next court date has not been set.
