E Street Band violinist Tzruya 'Suki' Lahav dies at 74

Tzruya 'Suki' Lahav, an Israeli violinist who toured and recorded with Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band from late 1974 to early 1975, has died at age 74. She passed away from cancer on April 1. Lahav contributed violin parts to key tracks and live performances during that period.

Tzruya 'Suki' Lahav first entered Bruce Springsteen's circle in 1972 through her husband, record engineer Louis Lahav, who worked on Greetings From Asbury Park, N.J.. She joined recording sessions for The Wild, the Innocent & the E Street Shuffle in Blauvelt, New York, where she provided multiple overdubs to create a one-woman choir effect on '4th of July, Asbury Park (Sandy),' though she received no official credit in the liner notes. Lahav recalled to the Jerusalem Post in 2007, 'We were all young. [Springsteen] wasn’t the big star. Not yet. Just a unique artist.'
