Hong Kong police arrested a 50-year-old man on Friday in Ma On Shan on suspicion of throwing glass bottles from his flat over more than two years, injuring two pedestrians.
Officers from the Sha Tin district crime unit arrested the man at his home on Sai Sha Road. Police said the suspect allegedly threw bottles from his Ma On Shan flat on eight occasions between 2024 and May 2026. Two pedestrians sustained minor injuries and were discharged after treatment. Investigations also linked the man to a shoplifting incident in Ma On Shan on June 1 involving an item valued at about HK$300. The man remains in custody pending further investigation. Offenders who throw objects from a height are liable to a maximum penalty of six months in jail and a HK$10,000 fine upon conviction.
