The International Criminal Court is seeking Tagalog and Cebuano translators for the upcoming trial of former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte.
The International Criminal Court has issued two job postings for paraprofessional interpreters and associate court interpreters. Contracts run until the end of the year with minimum annual salaries of 55,665 euros and 71,173 euros respectively. Duties include interpreting witness testimonies and maintaining terminology databases. Applicants need mother-tongue proficiency in Tagalog or Cebuano plus strong English skills and a university degree. The move follows a directive from Trial Chamber II to prepare interpretation services for the trial start on Nov. 30. Presiding Judge Joanna Korner highlighted the need for proceedings to be accessible to Filipinos during a May 27 status conference. Applications close on July 4. Selected candidates will undergo testing and training before possible courtroom accreditation.
