In a follow-up to earlier condolences, PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) CEO Bobby Rasyidin visited the family of a victim from the April 27, 2026, Bekasi Timur train collision on May 1. He pledged to fund their child's education through KAI's Asuransi Pendidikan program, in a heartfelt moment that went viral on social media.
The collision at Bekasi Timur Station between a KRL Commuter Line and KA Argo Bromo Anggrek resulted in multiple fatalities and service disruptions. Following initial visits by KAI executives and officials on April 29, where compensation was provided, Rasyidin made a personal visit on Friday, May 1, 2026, to one victim's family.
A video shared by Instagram account @indotoday captured Rasyidin sitting with the child, wearing a black peci, and saying, “Okay, later your school, I'll pay for it. Want that?” The boy replied “Yes” and nodded enthusiastically. The visit concluded with a handshake, during which the child kissed Rasyidin's hand.
Rasyidin announced KAI's commitment via the Asuransi Pendidikan program: “In this heavy situation, we want the family to feel accompanied. For one child of the deceased victim, KAI provides education insurance to continue schooling well.”
On Instagram, he reiterated apologies: “Once again, I extend deep condolences and the greatest apologies to passengers, victims, and families over the Bekasi Timur incident.” He stressed priorities including victim support, safety, and evaluations.
The emotional exchange trended online, earning praise like “Simple but DPR can't,” alongside public support for Rasyidin amid resignation calls from some DPR members.
