Quantum Backrooms is a horror video game with labyrinthine levels created using a real quantum computer. The game is available online for players to explore eerie rooms without needing access to quantum hardware.
James Wootton at Moth Quantum led development of the game, drawing from the internet legend of the Backrooms. Each room in the game corresponds to the quantum state of a qubit, with paths between rooms reflecting connections between qubits. This setup aims to convey the sensation of being inside a quantum computer, where unobserved elements constantly shift until observed.
