The Department of Education ended the negotiation table meeting after unions rejected its offer. Teachers are continuing the indefinite strike that marks its eighth day today.
Education councilor Carmen Ortí said the Valencian government had done its part by presenting Spain's most ambitious teacher salary proposal. It includes a progressive gross monthly increase of 200 euros until 2028, along with 60 specific measures that feature timelines and union participation mechanisms.
Unions STEPV, UGT, CCOO, CSIF and ANPE reported survey results with 53% participation. 78% of teachers voted no outright, 16% said yes but conditioned on a salary review clause, and only 6% accepted the deal.
Ortí noted the door remains open to negotiate without impositions and asked for a gesture from unions to suspend the strike. Union representatives delivered reports on school conditions and upheld their demands on class sizes, staffing and purchasing power.
