The Catalan Education Department and most teacher unions reached a preliminary agreement on Friday that includes salary increases of up to 600 euros per month by 2029.
The deal, reached after eight meetings and 16 days of conflict, includes an additional investment of 726 million euros. It was signed by Ustec, Professors de Secundària, CC.OO and UGT, while CGT rejected it.
Ustec spokesperson Iolanda Segura said the preliminary agreement will be put to a vote by teachers starting tomorrow. The unions will then decide whether to maintain strikes planned for next week.
Beyond salaries, the pact provides over 6,300 new staff positions for inclusive education and the call for 5,000 secondary school chairs. Ignasi Giménez of the Education Department stated that Catalan teachers will be the best paid in the country.
