Teachers in the Valencian Community have voted to temporarily suspend the month-long indefinite strike, though they largely reject the regional government's salary and conditions proposal.
In a telematic consultation held this Wednesday with 30,238 responses, 87% of teachers rejected the global agreement presented by the Conselleria de Educación. The offer included a progressive salary increase of up to 200 euros per month until 2028, plus inflation adjustments, the hiring of 5,000 new teachers and a total investment of 3.338 billion euros. However, 67% chose to suspend or call off the strike. Of those, 71% preferred a temporary interruption that allows it to be resumed without prior notice. The unions STEPV, CCOO and UGT, organizers of the consultation alongside the Coordinadora d'Assemblees Docents, confirmed that the stoppages will end this Friday. Rejection was especially high on pay (90%), use of Valencian (84%) and staffing (78%). Only the bureaucratic simplification block received majority support, with 82% in favor. Teachers will return to their posts on Friday, although mobilizations will continue.
