A 15-year-old boy in Norrköping faces charges for gross drug smuggling after receiving a postal package containing 2.4 kg of cocaine from Spain. Customs arrested the boy in February after surveilling the package's journey and his phone communications. The cocaine had a street value of around 2.5 million kronor.
On February 3, customs in Malmö inspected a postal package from Huelva, Spain. The package held 2.4 kg of cocaine with 85 percent purity, hidden in nine packages inside a red steel tank known as a hydrofor. It was addressed to a 15-year-old boy in Klockaretorpet, Norrköping.
Customs launched an investigation, employing surveillance and secret compulsory measures like wiretapping the boy's phone. On February 9, the boy collected the package, stowed it in his family's garage, and later disassembled the tank to extract the cocaine. Customs officers arrested him immediately afterward.
The boy's phone contained Signal chats with contacts named € and 729. They promised him 20,000 kronor to store the drugs until collection. In a chat on February 3, the boy wrote: “If the national task force knocks on the door […] you better smuggle Twix to me in jail”, to which € replied: “Bro you're 15 you'll be in sis bro […] 2 months max”.
The boy denies the crime, claiming he was tricked. He has been in custody under LVU since March 30.
