New York Mets pitcher Kodai Senga is scheduled to start a minor league rehab assignment on Friday with Single-A St. Lucie. The move activates a 30-day clock that could return him to the major league roster by mid-June at the latest.
Senga has been sidelined since April 27 with lumbar spine inflammation. He is expected to throw a maximum of four innings and 50 to 60 pitches in his first competitive outing since receiving an epidural in late April. Manager Carlos Mendoza said Senga feels ready for game action after completing three innings of live batting practice last Sunday in Florida.
