في أديس أبابا، وفي العشرين من مييازيا لعام 2018 (وفق التقويم الإثيوبي)، صرح رئيس الوزراء الدكتور أبي أحمد خلال فعالية للخدمات الاجتماعية بأن قطاع تربية الماشية يمثل مرحلة صعبة في رحلة إثيوبيا نحو تحقيق الاكتفاء الذاتي الغذائي. وأكد أن الاستغلال الأمثل للموارد المائية، وتسخير الإمكانات غير المستغلة، والاعتماد على الابتكار، يمثلون بارقة أمل لتحقيق أمن غذائي مستدام.

تحدث رئيس الوزراء الدكتور أبي أحمد خلال فعالية للخدمات الاجتماعية، واصفاً تربية الماشية بأنها مرحلة صعبة في طريق إطعام سكان إثيوبيا بشكل مستقل.

وقال: "تربية الماشية، في رحلتنا لتحقيق الاكتفاء الذاتي الغذائي، هي مرحلة صعبة".

وأشار إلى أن الاستخدام المناسب للموارد المائية في البلاد، وتسخير الإمكانات غير المستغلة، وتطبيق الابتكار، سيمهد الطريق لتحقيق أمن غذائي موثوق ومستدام.
