أعلنت لجنة الخدمة التعليمية عن خطط لترقية أكثر من 30 ألف معلم قبل نهاية عام 2026. وكشفت الرئيسة التنفيذية بالإنابة إيفلين ميتي عن هذه التفاصيل خلال اجتماع مع المشرعين يوم الأربعاء، مشيرة إلى أن الترقيات تعتمد على التمويل وحالات خروج المعلمين من الخدمة.

وضعت لجنة الخدمة التعليمية خططاً لترقية أكثر من 30 ألف معلم بحلول نهاية عام 2026. وأعلنت الرئيسة التنفيذية بالإنابة إيفلين ميتي عن ذلك في 13 مايو 2026، أثناء حديثها أمام لجنة التعليم في الجمعية الوطنية في أبراج بونجي. صرحت ميتي بأن الترقيات ستمضي قدماً بمجرد أن تفرج الخزانة الوطنية عن مبلغ ملياري شلن كيني للسنة المالية 2026/2027. وأشارت إلى أن عدد الترقيات سيعتمد على عدد المعلمين الذين يتركون الخدمة سواء عن طريق التقاعد أو غير ذلك. وحثت اللجنة، برئاسة النائب جوليوس ميلي، على اتخاذ إجراءات أسرع لمعالجة الشكاوى المتعلقة بالتأخيرات. وبشكل منفصل، أكدت ميتي أن 20 ألفاً من أصل 44 ألف معلم متدرب حالياً سينتقلون إلى وظائف دائمة قابلة للمعاش التقاعدي بعد إكمال فترة تدريبهم التي تستغرق عامين في يناير 2027. وأضافت أنه تم توظيف أكثر من 100 ألف معلم في السنوات الثلاث الماضية بدعم من الرئيس ويليام روتو. كما أثار المشرعون قضايا تشمل عدم دفع تعويضات قانون منافع إصابات العمل وتأخيرات في برامج رعاية المعلمين.
