قدمت مجموعة ضغط شبابية التماساً إلى البرلمان تطالب فيه بإنشاء ميزانية تكميلية بقيمة 300 مليار شلن كيني للسنة المالية 2026/2027 لمعالجة بطالة الشباب.

تم تقديم الالتماس إلى عضو البرلمان عن دائرة فونيولا، ويلبرفورس أوندو، من قبل رابطة الشباب والطامحين الصغار التابعة لحزب الحركة الخضراء المتحدة في 25 يونيو 2026. ويقترح الالتماس تدابير تبدأ في يوليو 2026 ضمن قطاع الحماية الاجتماعية.

تتضمن الميزانية المقترحة 168 مليار شلن كيني لمدفوعات شهرية بقيمة 7,000 شلن كيني لمليوني شاب من غير المهرة، و60 مليار شلن كيني كمنح تجارية، و36 مليار شلن كيني للتدريب على المهارات. كما يسعى مقدمو الالتماس إلى إنشاء سجل وطني للخريجين العاطلين عن العمل.

تم تقديم الالتماس في الذكرى السنوية الثانية لاحتجاجات جيل زد (Gen Z) لعام 2024، ويحمل توقيع رئيس القضاة السابق ديفيد ماراغا. ويأتي ذلك في أعقاب توقيع الرئيس ويليام روتو على قانون المالية لعام 2026 ليصبح قانوناً نافذاً.
