Myndighed ønsker endnu et navneskift

Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten har anmodet om et navneskift til Dataskyddsmyndigheten. Myndigheden udtaler, at det nuværende navn skaber misforståelser og ikke afspejler dens tilsynsrolle.

Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten (IMY) har henvendt sig til regeringen med en anmodning om at ændre navn. Myndigheden ønsker i stedet at blive kaldt Dataskyddsmyndigheten.

Dette ville være det andet navneskift på fem år. Den 1. januar 2021 skiftede agenturet fra Datainspektionen til Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten.

I sin pressemeddelelse oplyser IMY, at det nuværende navn ikke tydeligt viser dens rolle som tilsynsmyndighed. Navnet fører desuden til tilbagevendende misforståelser og en risiko for forveksling med andre myndigheder.

Et nyt navn vil ifølge myndigheden bedre afspejle opgaven og mindske forvirringen.
