Krafton to launch inZOI life simulation game in early access next year

South Korean studio Krafton is preparing to release inZOI, a realistic life-simulation game, in early access on PCs starting March 28, 2025. Developed using Unreal Engine 5, the title aims to introduce advanced customization and gameplay elements to the genre long dominated by The Sims. Details on pricing and console versions remain pending announcements.

Krafton Inc., the developer behind PUBG: Battlegrounds, has entered the life-simulation space with inZOI, positioning it as a potential disruptor to established titles like The Sims. The game will arrive on PCs via early access at 1 a.m. in France on March 28, 2025, featuring highly detailed graphics powered by Unreal Engine 5. This engine enables an exceptional level of realism, though it will likely demand robust hardware to run smoothly.

Players in inZOI will control characters known as ZOIs, managing their daily lives in an open world. Customization options extend to environments, cities, clothing, furniture, and vehicles, allowing users to drive their characters on journeys. Core mechanics include building relationships, pursuing careers, addressing ambitions and fears, and navigating a karma system that influences outcomes.

Ahead of the full release, Krafton offered a preview through the free Character Studio tool, available from August 21 to 26, 2024. This allowed early testing of character creation and customization features. Further details, such as whether early access requires payment and the final version's price, are expected on March 19, 2025. Console support is planned but slated for a later date after the PC launch.

The Sims series has faced criticism for bugs and lack of innovation, creating an opening for competitors like inZOI to capture interest with its fresh approach and technical advancements.
