A man with the initials KD died after being beaten by residents in Desa Batunya, Tabanan, Bali, for allegedly stealing a chicken. The incident occurred around 01:30 WITA last weekend.
Village head of Sidatapa Made Sutama said KD worked as an odd-job laborer and was known as quiet in his village. His family falls into the Desil 2 category, a government-defined poor group.
Tabanan police named five suspects, MJ, WS, KB, ML and ND, for alleged violence causing death. Police chief AKBP I Putu Bayu Pati stated that vigilantism cannot be justified.
