São Paulo city hall under Mayor Ricardo Nunes (MDB) claims to have submitted 46 quarterly reports on operating blue lane sections, plus a balance sheet in December 2025. According to the prefecture, all requirements were met, but there has been no response from Senatran since March 2024, the start of the municipal campaign, after which 28 sections had been approved.
The lack of federal approval prevents the rollout of 80 km of new exclusive motorcycle corridors. The city is preparing a consolidated report by April 30, crucial for evaluating the experimental project.
National Traffic Secretary Adrualdo Catão rebuts the accusations. He points to flaws in the reports and concerns over traffic fatalities, demanding a final technical analysis. "These pieces of information are essential to allow a safe and responsible evaluation by Senatran. From there, the secretariat can assess the project's evolution, check the effectiveness of the experimental signage, and decide, based on technical criteria, on the measure's viability," Catão told Folha's Painel.
The federal government plans to decide on the experimental extension by the end of May.
