Telekom forsvarer kobbernetværk i laboratorium i Darmstadt

Deutsche Telekom satser fortsat på sit gamle kobbernetværk i forbindelse med digitaliseringen af Tyskland. I et kælderlaboratorium fra 1949 i Darmstadt præsenterede leder Clemens Sieben planerne og fremhævede den eksisterende infrastrukturs ydeevne.

Deutsche Telekom inviterede for nylig gæster til en præsentation i et historisk laboratorium i det vestlige Darmstadt. Her hænger gamle kabler i gul, rød og grøn stadig ned fra loftet, mens leder Clemens Sieben fremhævede fordelene ved kobbernetværket. Sieben, der er ansvarlig for kundekvalitet inden for bredbåndsteknologier, udtalte: "Fiber er den bedste teknologi. Men Telekoms eksisterende kobbernetværk leverer gode tjenester, og vi bør ikke afbryde det uden nødvendighed." Han betragter det som en praktisk løsning i overgangsfasen. Kritikere anklager virksomheden for at fastholde Tysklands digitale efterslæb med denne tilgang. Modstanden mod planerne vokser nu også i Berlin.
