Triumph boosts Tiger Sport 660 power for 2026 model

Triumph has updated its Tiger Sport 660 motorcycle for 2026 with a 14 percent increase in engine power to 94 horsepower. The revisions include added torque, a larger fuel tank, and new styling options. A first-ride review highlights improved performance while maintaining comfort and versatility.

The 2026 Triumph Tiger Sport 660 introduces several enhancements to its 660cc triple engine, boosting output by 17 horsepower and 9.5 pound-feet of torque for a total of 94 horsepower. This makes the bike more responsive, particularly for two-up touring with luggage, according to reviewer Kevin Murphy, who tested it on mountain roads and highways.

First introduced in 2021, the Tiger Sport 660 blends sport-touring and adventure elements with an upright seating position and half-fairing. Murphy, a 6-foot rider with a 36-inch inseam, found the stock seat comfortable and the overall height approachable. The bike features a toolless-adjustable windscreen, though Murphy noted challenges: "Well THAT’S worse!" after raising it while riding, due to turbulence at helmet height.

Technical updates include an enlarged 18.7-liter fuel tank, up from 17.2 liters, paired with a published fuel economy of 44.1 mpg, compared to 52.2 mpg previously. Suspension offers 150mm of travel front and rear, with a longer wheelbase than the related Trident model, providing stable handling in twisties despite some dive under braking.

Braking relies on twin two-piston front calipers and a single rear, with unobtrusive ABS. The compact display is bright and customizable for ride modes, while the quickshifter enables clutchless shifts. One test bike showed minor shift issues, attributed to prior use by journalists.

Available in Interstellar Blue or Silver Ice/Intense Orange, the 2026 model starts at $10,445, a $750 increase over 2025. Murphy, who owns a 2023 version, praised its 'Goldilocks' balance of fun and maneuverability, suggesting it suits budget-conscious tourers.
