Over four years, the number of people in acute homelessness in Uppsala has risen from 57 to 101. This means the share of total homelessness has increased from 7 to 14 percent.
Between 2022 and 2026, the number of people in acute homelessness rose from 57 to 101. Today more than one hundred people live without any roof over their heads.
– Every day is a question of survival, says Guled Abdullahi who lives in homelessness. Robin Norstedt, who also lives in homelessness, adds that it is terrible and that many older people are coming out.
Total homelessness has meanwhile decreased from 854 to 726 households. Uppsala municipality believes there is a dark figure because one target group is hard to reach.
The municipality has started work to investigate the development. They have expanded the outreach group and supplemented it with case officers from the addiction unit.
