Times Higher Education (THE), based in Britain, published its Asia University Rankings on Thursday, marking the first time all eight Hong Kong public universities have placed in the top 100.

The University of Hong Kong retained sixth place, while the Chinese University of Hong Kong slipped one spot to 10th. Hong Kong University of Science and Technology held 12th, City University rose two places to 14th, Polytechnic University stayed at 18th, and Baptist University made the largest local gain, climbing from 50th to 40th. New entrants included the Education University of Hong Kong at 37th and Lingnan University at 84th.

Phil Baty, THE's chief global affairs officer, highlighted Hong Kong's status as a world-leading education hub, noting it is the only metropolis with five universities in the global top 100 since 2024—a feat unmatched by cities like London or Boston.

Tsinghua University topped the table for the eighth straight year, with Peking University second for the seventh consecutive year. Singapore's National University and Nanyang Technological University kept third and fourth places.
