K-pop band BTS met Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum in Mexico City on Wednesday ahead of the group's three sold-out concerts in the capital.
BTS members met Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum at the presidential palace in Mexico City on Wednesday local time. They greeted the public from the palace balcony ahead of the BTS World Tour "Arirang" shows in the capital.
Sheinbaum confirmed the visit during a regular press briefing and described BTS as a band that "always carries messages of friendship, peace, and love." She had welcomed the tour dates in January, calling them a "historic moment" for younger Mexicans.
BTS will perform at Estadio GNP Seguros on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. All three shows sold out shortly after tickets went on sale. A handout photo from Mexico's presidency press office shows Sheinbaum with the group at the Palacio Nacional.
