Ägypten hat einen Vertrag für seine erste landesweite luftgestützte Mineralienvermessung seit 42 Jahren unterzeichnet.

Karim Badawi, Minister für Erdöl und mineralische Ressourcen, wohnte der Unterzeichnung zwischen der ägyptischen Behörde für mineralische Ressourcen und Bergbauindustrie und Xcalibur am Flughafen Marsa Alam bei.

Die Vermessung wird sechs Schlüsselregionen abdecken, darunter die Ost- und Westwüste, den Sinai, die Bahariya-Oase und Abu Tartour.

Badawi erklärte, das Projekt werde eine moderne Datenbank schaffen, die Explorationsrisiken verringert und neue Investitionen anzieht.

Xcalibur bringt Erfahrungen aus mehr als 1.400 ähnlichen Projekten weltweit ein.

Building on his January push at Riyadh's International Mining Conference, Egypt's Petroleum and Mineral Resources Minister Karim Badawi announced plans to lift the mining sector's GDP contribution to 6% from under 1%, including a comprehensive aerial geophysical survey starting in June—the first since 1984. The remarks came at the OECD Critical Minerals Forum in Istanbul.
