Hijra-Bank spendet erste Zakat an Kommission

Die Hijra-Bank hat die erste Zakat-Spende in der Geschichte der äthiopischen Finanzinstitute an die Zakat- und Waqf-Kommission geleistet. Die Veranstaltung fand unter dem Obersten Rat für Islamische Angelegenheiten Äthiopiens statt. Die Spende stammt aus dem Jahresgewinn der Bank von 2017.

Am Ketit 24, 2018 (Fana Media), in Addis Abeba spendete die Hijra-Bank den ersten Zakat-Betrag in der Geschichte der äthiopischen Finanzinstitute an die Zakat- und Waqf-Kommission. Die Bank, die vollständig zinsfreie Bankdienstleistungen erbringt, leistete 8 Millionen 182 Tausend Birr als Zakat-Zahlung. Dieses System wurde unter dem Obersten Rat für Islamische Angelegenheiten Äthiopiens eingerichtet und markiert das formelle Engagement der Bank für Zakat-Spenden. An der Zeremonie nahmen teil: Sheikh Haj Ibrahim Tufa, Präsident des Obersten Rates; Vorstandsmitglieder der Zakat- und Waqf-Kommission; die Scharia-Berater der Bank; Vertreter des Obersten Rates; und andere Stakeholder. Die gespendeten Mittel stammen aus dem 2017 verbuchten Jahresgewinn der Bank, wobei die Zuweisung durch Abzug der Ramadan-Zakat aus dem allgemeinen Haushalt in einer praktischen Iftar-Tradition erfolgte. Die Zakat- und Waqf-Kommission wurde im vorherigen Sene-Monat unter dem Obersten Rat gebildet. Diese Aktion unterstreicht die Zusammenarbeit zwischen der Bank und der Kommission.

Hijra Bank ended its 2024/25 financial year strongly, with profit before tax surging nearly eightfold to 721 million Br amid a credit-starved market. Assets grew by 79 percent to 14.6 billion Br, while earnings per share rose 196 percent to 73.84 Br. Management attributes the success to a disciplined Sharia-compliant model and targeted outreach efforts.
