Philippine Army’s 2nd Infantry Division to host anti-misinformation summit

The Philippine Army’s 2nd Infantry (Jungle Fighter) Division will host a digital and social media summit to combat misinformation and strengthen public trust. The event runs from tomorrow until Thursday, with government communicators from the AFP, PNP, and LGUs participating. It aims to enhance coordination in the digital information landscape.

The Philippine Army’s 2nd Infantry (Jungle Fighter) Division announced it will host a digital and social media summit focused on combating misinformation and bolstering public trust.

The inaugural event, set for tomorrow through Thursday, will bring together social media managers and public information officers from the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine National Police, local government units, and partner agencies. It seeks to improve coordination and capabilities amid the evolving digital information environment.

Col. Francisco Molina, the Army’s assistant chief of staff for civil-military operations, stressed the key role of government communicators in steering the public with facts. “In today’s digital environment, the fight does not stop on the ground, but in the minds of the people. As government communicators, our role is to ensure that truth remains stronger than misinformation, disinformation and malinformation and that our message is not only heard, but trusted,” said Maj. Gen. Ramon Zagala, 2ID commander.

The summit forms part of broader efforts to deliver accurate, timely, and responsible public information in the face of digital challenges.
