Royal Family participates in multiple National Day celebrations

The royal family marks Sweden's National Day on June 6 with events at Stockholm Palace, in Salem, Skokloster and at Skansen.

Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel open the southern gates of Stockholm Palace at 10.00 to welcome the public. The couple later visits the National Day celebration in Salem at Skönviksparken in Rönninge where the Crown Princess gives a speech. King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia attend the celebration in Håbo municipality at Skokloster. The program there begins at 10.30 and the official event starts at 11.30. The royal family leaves Stockholm Palace at 17.50 to join the National Day celebration at Skansen which begins at 17.15. The King distributes banners to associations during the event which is broadcast on SVT at 20.00.

The King and Queen and Crown Prince couple celebrated National Day with a carriage procession to Skansen in Stockholm.

Following pre-celebrations on Wednesday with gifts and a buffet, King Carl XVI Gustaf was honored on his actual 80th birthday Thursday with a service in Slottskyrkan, military honors and a gala dinner at the Palace. Court preacher Johan Dalman opened with '80 years and counting'. The king thanked his family in an emotional speech.

Uppsala Municipality and UKK will reopen the renovated Vaksala torg on June 6 with Vaksalafesten. The square features more greenery, seating, and shade to serve as a meeting place for all ages. The event kicks off Sommar på UKK with free entry.
