Undead Labs unveiled a gameplay trailer for State of Decay 3 during the Xbox Games Showcase 2026. The footage offered the first substantial look at the title since its initial announcement six years ago.
The trailer highlighted core mechanics in a zombie apocalypse setting. Players build settlements and manage survivor communities while combating an encroaching threat known as Blood Plague. State of Decay 3 supports solo play as well as shared-world co-op for up to four players. It will launch in 2027 on Xbox consoles, Steam and PlayStation 5. Franchise co-creator Brant Fitzgerald announced alpha playtests earlier this year. Interested players can join a waitlist for those tests. The showcase appearance marks steady progress toward the game's release.
