Tesla announced a free 30-day trial of its Full Self-Driving (Supervised) v14 software for eligible vehicles in North America on November 27, 2025. The trial targets around 1.5 million HW4-equipped models during the holiday season. Owners will receive notifications to download and install the software.
On Wednesday, November 27, 2025, Tesla began offering a complimentary 30-day trial of Full Self-Driving (Supervised) v14.2 to owners of HW4/AI4-equipped Model S, Model 3, Model X, Model Y, and Cybertruck vehicles in the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Puerto Rico. This initiative coincides with the 2025 holiday season, allowing users to experience new features such as Speed Profiles and Arrival Options without prior purchase of the FSD capability.
The trial is available to new and existing owners who did not buy FSD at the time of vehicle ordering. Eligible vehicles must have Full Self-Driving (Supervised) software version 14.2 or later installed, which requires a Wi-Fi connection for download. Tesla owners will be notified via email or the Tesla mobile app when the trial is ready. The 30-day period starts immediately upon installation.
Tesla initiated a limited rollout of FSD v14.2 last week, with thousands of vehicles in the US and Canada now running the software, according to data from TeslaFi.com and Tessie.com. As confidence in the build grew, Tesla expanded access, estimating 1.5 million units will receive the trial. Legacy HW3 vehicles are ineligible, as they cannot run FSD v14 versions.
Tesla AI team member Sawyer Merritt shared on X (formerly Twitter) that he received FSD v14.2.1 on his Model Y, praising the team: "Shoutout to the Tesla AI team for working on Thanksgiving!"
This trial builds on last year's FSD v12 efforts, which were extended to v13. Tesla may release another v14 update before year-end, leveraging data from the expanded user base for improvements in scenarios like U-turns and school zones.
