UP, DLSU, Ateneo enter 2026 QS World University Rankings by Subject

The University of the Philippines (UP), De La Salle University (DLSU) and Ateneo de Manila University have entered the 2026 Quacquarelli-Symonds (QS) World University Rankings by Subject. UP secured a top 100 position in Library and Information Management, alongside strong showings in other fields. DLSU and Ateneo also performed well across multiple disciplines.

Quacquarelli-Symonds evaluated more than 21,000 academic programs from around 1,900 institutions across 100 countries for the 2026 rankings, covering 55 disciplines grouped into five broad faculty areas. The University of the Philippines placed in the world's top 100 for Library and Information Management, a new entry after missing the ranking last year. It also entered the top 200 in Hospitality and Leisure Management and retained top 200 spots in Agriculture & Forestry, Anthropology, Archaeology and English Language & Literature. UP earned recognition in 16 additional subjects including Biological Sciences, Business & Management Studies, Communication & Media Studies, Computer Science & Information Systems, Economics & Econometrics, Education, Environmental Sciences, Geography, History, Law, Linguistics, Medicine, Mathematics, Physics & Astronomy, Politics & International Studies, and Sociology, for a total of 22 ranked subjects. The university climbed 58 places in Social Sciences and Management and 74 in Arts and Humanities, with gains in Life Sciences and Medicine as well as Engineering and Technology. “The results show our continued efforts to strengthen programs across a wide range of subject areas, delivering the quality of education expected of a national university. Through our academic and research achievements, we aim to make valuable contributions to society,” said UP Vice President for Academic Affairs Lorraine Symaco. UP topped Philippine universities in the overall QS World University Rankings 2026 at 362nd globally. De La Salle University led the country in Business & Management Studies (401-450) and Education and Training (351-400), and as the top private institution in Computer Science & Information Systems (551-600), Economics & Econometrics (451-500), English Language & Literature (201-250) and Politics (301-400). It improved to =365 in Arts & Humanities and =382 in Social Sciences & Management. Ateneo de Manila University ranked among the best in seven subjects, including Theology, Divinity & Religious Studies (51-100), Anthropology (101-200), English Language & Literature (201-250), Politics & International Studies (301-400), Sociology (301-375), Business & Management Studies (451-500) and Economics & Econometrics (551-700). It placed =333 in Arts & Humanities and 401-450 in Social Sciences & Management. QS noted Southern Asia as the most improved region proportionally.
