Water and sewage costs vary sharply between Dalarna municipalities. Älvdalen has the highest fees while Avesta has the lowest.
According to Hyresgästföreningen the gap exceeds 7 100 kronor per year between the most and least expensive municipalities. In Älvdalen VA costs for an apartment in Nils Holgersson-huset reach about 11 800 kronor annually.
The corresponding cost in Avesta stands at roughly 4 700 kronor. At the same time 13 of 15 municipalities in the county are raising the fee in 2026.

VA Syd is urging central Malmö residents to flush toilets less, avoid laundry and dishwashing, and shower shorter or at friends' places outside the area.
