Ludvika municipal council has unanimously decided to purchase Vattenfall's shares in VB Energi together with Fagersta municipality.
The transaction is the largest in the municipality's history and gives the buyers control of 50.6 percent of the shares in the energy company.
The purchase price amounts to slightly more than 1.4 billion kronor.
Ludvika and Fagersta municipalities are completing their takeover of VB Energi. The deal has been marked by secrecy and complexity that limited residents’ access to information.
