Al-Sisi inaugura el proyecto New Delta con inversiones cercanas a los 800.000 millones de EGP

El presidente egipcio, Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, inauguró el domingo el proyecto agrícola New Delta en Giza. La iniciativa forma parte de los esfuerzos para ampliar las tierras de cultivo y mejorar la seguridad alimentaria.

El proyecto busca recuperar y cultivar aproximadamente 2,2 millones de feddans utilizando agua de drenaje agrícola tratada. Incluye una extensa infraestructura, como estaciones de bombeo de agua, carreteras e instalaciones eléctricas.

Según un comunicado de la presidencia egipcia, las inversiones totales han alcanzado casi los 800.000 millones de EGP. Los costes de desarrollo oscilan entre 350.000 y 400.000 EGP por feddan, y el proyecto cuenta con cerca de 12.000 kilómetros de carreteras.

Al-Sisi señaló que se construyeron 19 grandes estaciones de bombeo y centrales eléctricas con una capacidad combinada de alrededor de 2.000 megavatios. Se espera que esta iniciativa genere aproximadamente dos millones de empleos sostenibles, con empresas del sector privado encargándose de las labores de cultivo.
