Garamendi confirma que se presentará a un tercer mandato en la CEOE

El presidente de la CEOE, Antonio Garamendi, anunció este miércoles que aspirará a un tercer mandato al frente de la patronal. De ganar, permanecerá en el cargo hasta 2030.

Garamendi hizo el anuncio durante un curso de verano organizado por la Universidad Internacional Menéndez Pelayo y la Asociación de Periodistas de Información Económica en Santander. Afirmó contar con el apoyo expreso de organizaciones y empresas.

La CEOE convocó su comité ejecutivo para el próximo 1 de julio con el fin de fijar la fecha de las elecciones, que se adelantarán respecto al plazo inicial de noviembre. Garamendi explicó que el adelanto permite dar julio para preparar candidaturas y evitar solapamiento con la Cumbre Iberoamericana de principios de noviembre.

El dirigente vasco, presidente desde 2018, promovió en 2023 una reforma estatutaria para eliminar el límite de dos mandatos. Invitó a posibles rivales a presentar proyectos alternativos y reclamó una campaña limpia.
