Jimma University and Boeing sign aviation training partnership

Jimma University and Boeing have signed a partnership to train qualified professionals in aviation science and aerospace engineering. This agreement aims to align with the growth of Ethiopia's aviation industry. Boeing's Africa Managing Director, Ambassador Henok Tefara, noted that Ethiopia serves as Africa's largest aviation hub.

On March 4, 2018, in Addis Ababa, Jimma University and Boeing signed a partnership agreement to train qualified experts in aviation science and aerospace engineering.

Boeing's Africa Managing Director, Ambassador Henok Tefara, highlighted Ethiopia's position as Africa's largest aviation hub during the signing. He emphasized that Ethiopia not only has a long history in aviation but also possesses significant potential and a visionary long-term plan. The country is actively working on expanding major aircraft maintenance projects, he added.

Tefara also pointed to the recent expansion at Bishoftu, which is developing into a world-class airport capable of elevating the aviation industry to a higher level. This partnership is designed to build skills and knowledge that match the industry's growth. As a result, it will enable the production of internationally competitive aviation professionals in Africa.

Dr. Jemal Abafita, President of Jimma University, stated that this collaboration represents a crucial step in establishing the university as a center of excellence in aviation science and aerospace engineering. Through this initiative, opportunities for nurturing future aviation professionals will be enhanced.
