Un diputado abre una causa penal contra el administrador municipal de eThekwini

El diputado de ActionSA, Alan Beesley, ha abierto una causa penal contra el administrador municipal de eThekwini, Musa Mbhele, tras una disputa sobre la desaparición de informes de la SIU sobre las finanzas municipales.

La denuncia fue presentada en la comisaría central de Ciudad del Cabo esta semana tras un acalorado intercambio durante una reunión del Scopa el 20 de mayo.

Beesley acusó a Mbhele de mentir al decir que no había recibido un informe de 2023 de la SIU sobre ventas sospechosas de terrenos en eThekwini. La Presidencia confirmó por escrito que el informe y las recomendaciones fueron enviados a Mbhele en agosto de 2023.

Mbhele negó haber visto el informe y afirmó que su equipo no lo había recibido. Beesley señaló que mentir ante el Parlamento conlleva una pena de hasta tres años de prisión.

El informe de la SIU recomendaba incluir en una lista negra a varias empresas y derivó cuatro asuntos para medidas disciplinarias. Beesley destacó el problema más amplio de las conclusiones de la SIU que siguen sin abordarse en todo el gobierno.
