Un député ouvre une enquête pénale contre le directeur municipal d'eThekwini

Le député d'ActionSA, Alan Beesley, a ouvert une enquête pénale contre le directeur municipal d'eThekwini, Musa Mbhele, à la suite d'un différend concernant des rapports manquants du SIU sur les finances municipales.

La plainte a été déposée au commissariat de police de Cape Town Central cette semaine, après un échange houleux lors d'une réunion du Scopa le 20 mai.

Beesley a accusé Mbhele d'avoir menti en affirmant ne pas avoir reçu un rapport du SIU de 2023 concernant des ventes de terrains douteuses à eThekwini. La présidence a confirmé par écrit que le rapport et ses recommandations avaient été envoyés à Mbhele en août 2023.

Mbhele a nié avoir vu le rapport et a déclaré que son équipe ne l'avait pas reçu. Beesley a rappelé que mentir au Parlement est passible d'une peine pouvant aller jusqu'à trois ans d'emprisonnement.

Le rapport du SIU recommandait de placer plusieurs entreprises sur liste noire et renvoyait quatre dossiers pour des mesures disciplinaires. Beesley a souligné le problème plus large des conclusions du SIU qui restent sans suite au sein du gouvernement.
