Varios sismos de baja magnitud se registran en Chile el domingo

El Centro Sismológico Nacional reportó once movimientos sísmicos durante el domingo 14 de junio en diferentes zonas del país, con magnitudes entre 3.0 y 4.4.

El sismo de mayor intensidad alcanzó magnitud 4.4 a las 18:54 horas, con epicentro a 19 kilómetros al oeste de Quintero y a 28 kilómetros de profundidad. Otros eventos incluyeron uno de magnitud 4.0 cerca de Socaire y varios de magnitud 3.0 a 3.7 en zonas como Carrizal Bajo, Curicó y Mina Collahuasi.

El Centro Sismológico Nacional de la Universidad de Chile registró todos los movimientos, la mayoría a profundidades que van desde 20 hasta 272 kilómetros. Chile se ubica en el límite de las placas de Nazca y Sudamericana, lo que genera actividad sísmica frecuente.

El Servicio Nacional de Prevención y Respuesta ante Desastres (Senapred) recordó recomendaciones básicas: mantener la calma, protegerse bajo un elemento firme, cortar la electricidad y el gas, y alejarse de edificios si se está en la calle.
