Växjö Lakers have secured the services of 24-year-old Finnish center Matias Mäntykivi on a two-year contract for the upcoming SHL season. The player arrives from Ilves in Finland's Liiga league.
Mäntykivi has established himself as one of the league's top offensive centers during his time with Ilves. Over his last five seasons in Liiga he recorded 201 points in 283 regular-season games. Born in Lappeenranta, he began his career with SaiPa before moving to Ilves and has represented Finland at both junior and senior international levels. He was selected by the Boston Bruins in the sixth round of the 2019 NHL draft.
