A head-on collision on Bodenvägen in Luleå on Tuesday evening claimed the lives of a 19-year-old IFK Luleå footballer and a man in his 50s. The community is now in mourning.
The crash occurred shortly before 5:30 p.m. near the Rostbollen roundabout, with one car ending up in a ditch. The 19-year-old woman was heading to football training and had been due to leave on a student trip the following day. "It is unfathomable that I saw her at school yesterday and a few hours later she was dead", says teammate Linnea Sköld.
Churches in Gammelstad and Luleå stayed open on Wednesday evening for candle lighting and support. "It is a day of sorrow, especially for family, relatives and friends", says vicar Petter Edberg.
The man in his 50s worked at Tullverket. "Today there is grief and dejection here", says IT manager Fredrik Lundström. Police are investigating the crash and examining whether illness may have caused the collision.
