Nagpalaya ang Myanmar ng 78 Pilipino na nahuli dahil sa mga paglabag sa imigrasyon, ayon sa Department of Foreign Affairs nitong Sabado. Sinabi ng DFA na mga biktima sila ng human trafficking na may kaugnayan sa mga scam operations. Sinusuportahan ng Philippine embassy sa Yangon ang kanilang pagbabalik sa bansa.

Kinumpirma ng Department of Foreign Affairs na nagpalaya ang Myanmar ng 78 Pilipino na nahuli dahil sa ilegal na pagpasok at pananatili sa bansa. Ito ay bahagi ng compassionate gesture ng mga awtoridad ng Myanmar sa panahon ng kanilang New Year na Thingyan, na nagpapakita ng goodwill sa pagitan ng dalawang bansa.

"Nagpapasalamat ang Department sa mga awtoridad ng Myanmar para sa humanitarian na aksyong ito," ayon sa pahayag ng DFA. Kasalukuyang pinapabilis ng Philippine embassy sa Yangon ang ligtas at maayos na pagbabalik ng mga Pilipino sa Pilipinas, wew coordination sa Myanmar authorities.

Reaffirm ang DFA ng kanilang patakaran sa proteksyon ng mga Pilipino sa labas ng bansa, kasama ang Department of Migrant Workers at mga ahensya sa pagtugis sa mga illegal recruiters. Samantala, sinabi ng DMW na pinapabilis nila ang mga hakbang laban sa human trafficking at scam operations laban sa overseas Filipino workers sa pamamagitan ng whole-of-government approach na nakatuon sa proteksyon ng biktima, rescue, at pagtugis sa traffickers.
