Pamekasan hajj office warns pilgrims against bringing large amounts of cigarettes

Indonesia's Pamekasan Hajj and Umrah Ministry office has reminded prospective Hajj pilgrims to follow airline baggage rules. Head Abdul Halim urged pilgrims not to bring large quantities of cigarettes for sale in the Holy Land.

Abdul Halim, head of the Pamekasan Hajj and Umrah Ministry office, issued the reminder in Pamekasan on Wednesday (15/4/2026). "We emphasize the importance of pilgrims' compliance with all applicable rules. We also do not want any pilgrims trading cigarettes, that is, bringing large quantities of cigarettes to sell in Arabia, as has happened in previous years," he said.

Prospective Hajj pilgrims from Pamekasan for the 2026 season number 1,384, up from 1,035 in 2025. They are divided into four flight groups: kloter 73, 74, 75, and 76.

Abdul Halim outlined the baggage rules. Each pilgrim may only bring one checked bag up to 32 kilograms and one cabin bag up to 7 kilograms.

Certain items are prohibited in the aircraft cabin, including corrosive materials, explosives, pressurized gases, flammable liquids, and chemical or toxic substances. Violations could lead to strict checks by aviation security, luggage unpacking, or item detention at the airport.
